This hospitalization comes just 11 days after the palace announced she was treated at the same hospital for a heart attack. Earlier this year she also underwent extensive back surgery and has had intermittent hospital stays after a fall and a bout of illness last year.

Family close at hand

The readmission coincided with the royal family’s public appearance at the Royal Run. Queen Mary previously updated reporters, saying Margrethe was improving and would return home to Fredensborg, with family offering close support as she recovers.
