Rescue operations continued late into the evening as authorities searched for the missing individual, but their efforts were in vain. Teams from various agencies, including the coast guard, a helicopter unit, fire services, ambulances, and police, were all mobilized in the search.
Warnings Had Been Issued
It has been reported that some individuals managed to self-rescue from the sea. The state broadcaster RTVE reminded viewers that authorities had issued warnings about dangerous waves just the day before. While these natural pools are known among travelers as hidden gems, they can quickly turn perilous during rough seas, with giant waves pulling unsuspecting visitors into the open sea and strong currents making it difficult to return safely.
This isn't the first time Tenerife has experienced such tragic events; similar scenes occurred on November 8, when many people were swept into the ocean, resulting in three deaths and 15 injuries. Once again, the island grapples with the aftermath of this deadly incident.
