A devastating incident has struck the western coast of Tenerife, a popular vacation destination in Spain. Near Los Gigantes, a colossal wave swept four individuals into the sea, tragically leading to their deaths. One more individual is still unaccounted for, heightening the somber atmosphere surrounding the event.
The incident occurred shortly after 4 PM at one of the well-known natural pools in Los Gigantes, located in the municipality of Santiago del Teide. At that time, many visitors were enjoying the scenery both on the rocks and in the water when an unexpected massive wave crashed upon them, pulling several into the depths.
According to emergency services in the Canary Islands, the powerful wave swept multiple people away. Reports indicate that some of the victims were international tourists. A search and rescue helicopter successfully retrieved one person alive, while another was found deceased in the water.
Initially, officials confirmed the deaths of three individuals: two men and one woman, aged 35 and 55 respectively. Later, another woman was added to the list of casualties, who succumbed to her injuries after being resuscitated and flown to the hospital. It remains unclear whether any German nationals were among the victims.
