Richie is currently on the Sing a Song All Night Long tour with Earth, Wind & Fire and is slated to play San Francisco on Sept. 26. This hospital stay comes amid an active touring calendar as his team monitors his condition.

A previous onstage scare

More than two months earlier, on June 24 in St. Paul, Minn., he cut a performance short after feeling dizzy. He joked with the crowd, performed from a piano, and later took an unscheduled break; doctors recommended rest and two shows were postponed. He returned to the stage on June 30 and shared an Instagram message in early July saying he was doing well and thanking fans for their support.
